Dandruff appears as little white flakes that get caught in the strands of your hair and often falls onto your shoulders and onto your clothing. It has nothing to do with the cleanliness of your hair, since it’s often just a result of a dry, flaking scalp. It can also occur from some styling products that create a build up in the hair. Hair sprays, mousse and other styling agents can often create flakes in your hair.
If you think your dandruff is coming from your styling products, then the simplest solution is to switch to another product. For all others, there are some very simple and effective ways to make dandruff disappear, leaving your hair clean and free of flakes.
Tea Tree Oil: A few drops of this anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and antiseptic solution will eliminate all traces of dandruff. Use it before you shampoo, and let it penetrate the scalp for a few minutes before washing your hair as normal. You can also create a hair mask by mixing a few drops of tea tree oil with some aloe vera oil for a nice, relaxing scalp treatment. Let the mask penetrate for ten to fifteen minutes and then rinse well before your regular shampoo.
Brush With Coconut Oil: Brushing some coconut oil onto your scalp and through your hair has great restoration value as well as the ability to remove unwanted flakes of dandruff. Coconut oil is anti-bacterial and also has healing properties to help replenish and nourish a dry, damaged scalp. Again, you should do this before you shampoo your hair.
Hot Oil and Vinegar: This classic home remedy for removing dandruff is just as effective as ever.
Combine equal amounts of sesame oil with olive oil in a small jar and run the jar under hot tap water to heat the oil. Massage the oil into your scalp to hydrate and exfoliate any flakey areas. When you’re done, rinse it clean with cider vinegar to remove all traces of the oil, along with dandruff.
